Dorchester Corn Exchange had its official re-opening following Greendale’s 38-week renovation works which saw the historic High East Street venue benefit from a complete knock-through on the ground floor, stunning new reception, foyer, box office and bar areas, and new, modern and accessible WC’s. The renovation restored the building’s original layout, with a new community meeting area created, and the foyer now transformed into a welcoming, light and bright space for audiences and visitors.
Despite the extensive remodelling and refurbishment of the venue, the building remained largely ‘open for business’ for Dorchester Arts’ packed events and performance schedule.
Mayor of Dorchester, Cllr Robin Potter attended the opening, along with the Lord and Lady High Sheriff of Dorset, Greendale Director, Rob Hooker, Ben Briggs, Greendale contracts manager, and Adam Logan, Greendale site manager. Rachel Osborne, Project Architect at Crickmay Stark Architects also attended.
Mayor, Robin Potter, commented: “The openness of this new area adds improved access and facilities to this historic gem. The flexibility of this new space will allow for a welcome to anyone for many events and exhibitions.”

Whether you’re here for a coffee, to view an exhibition, attend a performance, or hire a space for your own event, the Corn Exchange is now more open, inviting, and versatile than ever before.”
