St Andrew’s Church, Rockbourne

The bells can ring out again, thanks to work Greendale Construction recently completed on the grade 1 listed, 900 year old church and bell tower of St Andrew's Church, Rockbourne, Fordingbridge. Fortunately, the church was allocated £12,000 by the National Churches Trust (NCT) and £7,500 by the Wolfson Foundation to help fund the repairs. Vice-president of the Trust is none other than broadcaster Huw Edwards, best known as the presenter of the BBC's News at Ten. Huw was quoted as saying: "The latest funding is a much-needed lifeline for churches and chapels, many of which are struggling to raise money to keep their buildings in good repair. The grants will safeguard unique local heritage and provide a real boost to the people who look after and use churches and chapels for worship and for many important community activities." Work experience and apprenticeships at Greendale

Greendale has always taken training for the future of the construction industry very seriously, and so it was great to see Ben James, a year 10 student from Twynham School in Christchurch at our Douch Site at Ferndown.  Ben is getting useful work experience with us and is being mentored by Tim Wall, and Sam Wright our 2nd year carpentry Apprentice. Ben has been helping with general site duties as well as building a wooden stool! It really does give us all great pride to see these young people getting taste of work life at Greendale and to be involved investing in our future skilled trade workforce. Sam is building a stair for his NVQ assessments, and we wish Sam and Ben all the best in their chosen trades. Read more »
