The New Welcome Centre

As part of Upton Country Park’s £1.9 million National Lottery Heritage Fund award, Greendale Construction will be building a new Welcome Centre in the place of the old toilet block.

Starting in January 2022, the 39 week project will see us replacing the existing toilet block located in the main car park with £876,000 modern new Welcome Centre facility which will create a gateway to the Country Park and a real sense of arrival. It will be a place for people to meet, plan their visit and uncover the fascinating history of the former Upton estate.

The facilities in and around the current building, including the dog wash, will be temporarily re-sited during the construction, with the new Welcome Centre open to the public in Autumn 2022.

The new Welcome Centre will be a place for people to meet, plan their visit, learn what’s on offer and discover opportunities to get involved, and maybe become one our valued volunteers. The centre will also host vital facilities such as toilets and coffee machines, as well as the chance to pick up souvenirs.

The BCP, Upton Country Park Discovery Project is also supported the National Lottery, and will see Greendale working with Western Design Architects, SE Thorpe, and M&E Consultants, Worldwise.

Thanks to Gould Groundworks and Plant Hire for creating this amazing video showing off the hard work by all the teams on this project as its’s progressed, which has been supported by the National Lottery and BCP Council.
