This year we are thrilled to be supporting The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation. The Foundation (JTYAF) was set up by Pete and Linda Thornton whose 22 year old son, John, a young Royal Marine, was tragically killed on duty in Afghanistan.
The Foundation supports young people from a number of youth organisations by providing them with scholarships and bursaries which give them access to opportunities they would not otherwise have had.
Recipients of the awards are selected by their commitment to their chosen activity and also their demonstration to the Foundation’s key values: courage, determination, unselfishness and cheerfulness in adversity.
By the end of this year, it is expected that the Foundation will have helped over 500 children!
In order to carry on helping children and young people, the Foundation looks to raise funds via a number of sources, and this year, Greendale employees have chosen to donate the proceeds of their Christmas raffle and auction to JTYAF.
To find out more about the JTYAF, how you can help raise funds or how they may be able to help a child or young person close to you, please take a look at their website here http://www.jtyaf.org/ follow them on Facebook or even Twitter @JYYAF
Everyone at Greendale hopes to raise lots of funds towards this amazing foundation through our Christmas raffle and auction and will keep you informed.
