Greendale have successfully completed the refurbishment of a 1970’s SCOLA block at St Columba Academy in Fareham for Hampshire County Council.
The project involved removal of the original windows and cladding, Construction of a structural steel ring beam around the building which was attached to the original steel frame of the building. This then supported an external structural metal stud frame which then received new windows, insulation and render.
Below the ring beam more structural metal stud was constructed which had more windows plus doors fitted and also supported further insulation and brick cladding.
The inside of the block was fully refurbished including a new heating system, children’s toilets, kitchen facilities, flooring and decoration.
In other areas of the main school window replacements, cladding and render replacement works were undertaken. There were 5 large structural window replacements which had structural steel and wood added to support flat roofs above.
This is the first contract undertaken for Hampshire County Council by Greendale. We are due to commence another SCOLA contract for them at Aldworth College in Basingstoke on 16th June.
