Worshippers at Poole Methodist Church, Poole High Street, are benefitting from an extensive £1.1 million restoration and re-development of the existing church by Dorset Chartered Builders, Greendale Construction Limited.
Phase 1 of the project, which commenced in October 2013, have included re-development of the existing church to form a new community café and a small chapel, with the main church on a new 1st floor to the existing church building. New community rooms and halls are being formed in a new build to the rear. The existing church has been stripped out and remedial works undertaken to the spire and external stonework. New guttering & bird protection has been put in place and alterations to the front of the building to form two new entrances. A new concrete floor slab and steel frame for the new 1st floor including composite concrete floor has also been completed and new utility services have also been installed.
Greendale Contracts Director, Andy Musselwhite commented: “Greendale Construction Limited have been on site for some months now with this exciting and interesting project. Poole Methodists are making a bold, but decisive step to improve the church and community facilities in the centre of Poole. The complex works include piling works inside the church for the new ground and first floor structure, as well as external stone refurbishment and new glazed entrance.”

Progress 27/01/14 These progress shots show that the Poole Methodist church project is progressing well with the main church area completely cleared to enable piling operations to begin. The site set up is in place and a major part of the demolitions are complete.
Our Carpenters Nick and Mike are repairing the flat roof areas at very high level.
Pete Marks site manager said: “I’m very pleased with the progress. The project is gaining momentum.”
Progress 29/05/14
The Poole Methodist Church project continues with some stunning photos of progress so far. The works have been completed in phases and are to re-develop the existing church to form a new community café, a small chapel, with the main church on a new 1st floor to the existing church building, as well community rooms and halls in a new build to the rear. So far, Greendale have partly demolished the rear halls to allow work to commence, leaving the small hall available for use by the church groups. We have stripped out the existing church and undertaken remedial works to the spire and external stonework. New guttering & bird protection has been put in place and alterations to the front to form 2 new entrances. Piling for new foundations within the existing church – up to 14.5m deep. A new concrete floor slab, and steel frame for the new 1st floor including composite concrete floor. New utility services have also been installed.
Progress 22/09/14 These shots taken at Poole Methodist Church show work progressing really well. In the shot below we can see the existing circular stained glass window and construction of the new mezzanine floor.

Progress 21/01/15 – Phase 2
Phase 2 works at Poole Methodist Church in Poole High Street are starting well. With the old church halls now demolished the piling works for the new building has started.

As the photos show below, steelwork erection has commenced to Phase 2 of the Poole Methodist Church contract in Poole High Street. This work follows the extensive piling works, associated ground beams and lift pit construction.
