Greendale Construction Limited, has completed the first two phases of an impressive renovation to Poole Methodist Church, enabling its doors and facilities to be opened to the wider community
During the ‘Sea Change Project’, Poole Methodists have been transforming their town centre church building, now renamed “The Spire,” into a community hub where local charities and organisations work together with the church to provide facilities and services for those in need. In order to help achieve this, modern, accessible, child-friendly facilities, suitable for a wide variety of community uses have been created. Approximately twenty organisations already meet at or carry out work from, The Spire, and the number grows all the time.
Sea Change Project Leader, Peter Smith, said: “With such a complex, phased project, and in such a public location, it was vital that our contractors could be flexible to balance the needs of the public, the church, and neighbouring properties with those of the build. In this, Greendale’s site management has been exemplary.”
The work carried out by Greendale Construction included creating a community cafe area, offices for use by local charities; rooms for meetings, consultations and interviews; a child-friendly environment; baby change and adult change facilities; catering kitchen; function hall and IT facilities.
Greendale Construction Ltd Contracts Director, Andy Musselwhite said: “Due to its prominent and central High Street location, the Poole Methodist ‘Sea Change’ project was a very tight site, causing logistical challenges at times, although nothing Greendale is not used to. We have had a lot of interest from the general public walking past the site and enquiring about the works, particularly when we had a large crane on site. We are delighted with the completed works and everything it will bring to the people who wish to make use of the fantastic facilities.”
