Greendale Construction Limited has raised a staggering £6,230.65 for local charity, The Amelia-Grace Rainbow Fund. The charity, which was set up in memory of Amelia-Grace Cooper who died aged nine in 2010 from an aggressive childhood cancer, supports children in Dorset and the surrounding area who are suffering from terminal, life-limiting and serious chronic illness.
Greendale, whose employees vote on a new charity to support each year, raised the funds through a number of company events including annual Christmas party where staff, associates and suppliers raised £3,414.40 through a raffle and auction. Another £1,681.25 was raised when four Greendale employees joined together to form the ‘Greendale Grafters’ who took part in the gruelling Tough Mudder challenge. The challenge saw the fearless four; Stuart Harrison, Dave Neil, Chris Riddle and Will Spriggs, compete on the 12 mile, 29 obstacles run.
Greendale Site Manager, Stuart Harrison, said: “We endured ice cold water, pools of slurry mud, high vertical walls, monkey bars over water, the cry baby crawl and electroshock therapy, to name a few, but, are extremely proud of what we achieved and the good that this money will do for some seriously ill children.”
Greendale HR/training administrator, Charlotte Hollyoake, also raised £135 in sponsorship by completing a ‘Rainbow Run.’
Greendale HR & Finance Director, Maria Seabright, said: “Our employees and business associates have been incredibly generous in their support of Amelia’s Rainbow over the last year. We were delighted to be able to hand over a cheque to her parents, Chantel and Karl, who are passionate about keeping Amelia-Grace’s memory alive by helping other children with serious illnesses.
“Our wonderful staff have voted on supporting a fantastic charity, ‘Bobby’s Future,’ over the next year. Bobby’s Future aims to give financial and practical support for Bobby Griffiths and his family. Bobby has chromosome 14q deletion syndrome; a condition so rare it is believed there are only 12 other known cases. Bobby needs twenty-four hour care and money raised will go towards equipment and adapting Bobby’s home.”
