Greendale Construction have recently completed works to the Fortune Centre of Riding Therapy (FCRT) who provide Equine Facilitated Education and Therapy.
With around a hundred staff and many more young people receiving support from the FCRT teaching facility every year, the FCRT Trustees decided to upgrade and extend its teaching environment. The £235,000 project comprises of a new mezzanine floor in the existing student locker room thus creating a new two storey changing facility. A further two storey steel framed building was constructed at the opposite end of the original building to create a tack room together with a new extended drying room and first floor offices.
The FCRT offers students with learning difficulties and disabilities, who are motivated by horses, an alternative proven way of learning life skills that have previously eluded them. Learning on the residential Further Education Through Horsemastership (FETH) Course enables vulnerable young people to develop self confidence and greater independence. The FCRT is a registered charity which has been operating for 34 years.
Director Chris Kane says “It’s been a privilege to work on this project, its such a great charity, we are delighted the staff and students will all benefit from the modern extension to the building”.
