It was with much excitment that the latest issue of ‘Master Builder Magazine’ landed on our desks in the Greendale office, for on the front cover was non other than Greendale Director, Chris Kane standing outside one of our Sandbanks sites with the CEO of the FMB, Brian Berry.
You may recall our blog post when Brian joined Chris and our HR/Finance Director, Maria Seabright, on a tour of just a few of the Greendale sites back in November, so, we were all absolutely thrilled and very proud to see Brian had written an article about his visit for the magazine.
Here’s what Brian had to say:
Understanding the needs of our members is one of my main concerns as the FMB continues to review and develop the services that we off er our members.
We have a wide range of companies with similar but different needs so I think it’s important as far as we can for the FMB to understand these requirements better. So I was especially pleased to be invited to visit Greendale Construction Ltd in Poole, Dorset to get a better understanding of our larger members and to get on site.
Established in 1990 by Chris Kane and Robert Hooker, Greendale undertakes all aspects of construction work from new build, refurbishment and conservation, to repairs, maintenance and special works. It works under all construction procurement routes offering design and build, traditional tendering, negotiated and framework contracting.EMBRACING CHANGES AFFECTING THE CONSTRUCTION SECTOR
Chris Kane and Maria Seabright took me out on site to see the range of projects being undertaken by Greendale Construction. From a luxury house redevelopment, to the restoration and creation of the magnificent visitor centre at Durlston Castle right through to a primary school extention I saw at first hand an impressive array of projects and a great demonstration of the FMB at its best. What struck me most was the enthusiasm of the Greendale team and its positive can-do attitude. Chris and Rob have built up a multi-million pound business centering on excellence as demonstrated by the growth of the business and the award of Investors in People because of its commitment to its staff.
Clearly there are valuable lessons to be learned from Greendale that can be applied not only to other member companies but also the FMB itself. However, I suspect it is Greendale’s commitment to its staff, particularly in terms of their training and development, to ensure excellence is delivered at all times that lies at the heart of its success. To read this article online or more articles in Master Builder Magazine, click here
