We have successfully completed the conversion and renovation of Wareham former Magistrates’ Courts into a new high-tech manufacturing and administration headquarters for international radio tracking and radio tag company, Biotrack Ltd.
The £540k, six month project, involved the conversion of the two court rooms by means of the addition of a mezzanine floor to provide production and engineering facilities, and generous staff room and stores to compliment the two storey office accommodation, with new modernised washrooms.
Externally, the building has received modern cladding treatment with coloured weatherboarding on insulation backing at first floor level, insulated renders on the ground floor, and a complete coloured aluminium window and door replacement installation, bringing the building fabric forward to current standards. New bike storage has been added to the car park and new disabled access added to the rear entrance.
With over thirty years’ experience, Biotrack Ltd, is a leader in the manufacturing of radio tags and radio tracking for animals, having produced over 100,000 tags for over 1,000 species since 1990. The company currently has an output of 10,000 tags per year supplied to over 110 countries.
Director of Greendale Construction, Rob Hooker, said: “It was great to transform the rather run down and unloved court building into a new state of the art facility for Biotrack Ltd. Our work has given this building a new lease of life and we wish Biotrack every success at this new site. It was a very enjoyable and collaborative project, and the end result is a worthwhile and terrific transformation which we hope will serve Biotrack for many years to come.”
Managing Director of Biotrack Ltd, Brian Cresswell, said: “Greendale Construction were a pleasure to work with throughout this project and did a fantastic job turning this eye-sore of a building into a wonderful new workplace for everyone at Biotrack.”
