Greendale Small Works Division are delighted to have been awarded the the contract to repair, rebuild, stabilise and refurbish various walls to a number of sites around the beautiful, historic Christchurch Priory Church.

The project, for BCP Council, starts at end of July 2020 and is programmed for completion at the end of October 2020. Together with Columba Cook, Architect and Margo Teasdale, Conservation Officer, we are due to ensure all works are carried out to all historic listed building requirements. The scheduled monument stone and brick walls cover a wide area around the quay and bowling green, with the project including rebuilding works adjacent to the mill stream. The works will provide long term future for these wonderful historic walls. We will be removing vegetation and tree growth within the walls and dismantling cappings for a careful rebuild with traditional materials including Purbeck Stone and lime mortar products. Degraded and weather worn bricks will be carefully replaced with new matching clay imperial size bricks. Shoring and underpinning will also be undertaken on walls which are structurally failing.

“We are very pleased to be main contractor on this wonderful historic project in a beautiful location. The works will save these walls for future generations to enjoy and we look forward to working with the team to achieve successful hand over at the end of October.”
