Duration: 29 weeks

Project Description:

We were delighted to hand over the contract for Stewarts Garden Centres, which saw us create warehouses and offices at units 8 & 9, The Runway, Christchurch Business Park, for this family owned company. Stewarts Garden Centres was established in 1742 and boasts two garden centres in Christchurch and Broomhill, as well as Nurseries and a Landscaping business.

The 29-week contract comprised of 6,000 square feet of full height warehousing in unit 9, with unit 8 consisting of high specification offices and lockable storage over two floors totalling 4,845 square feet, and additional warehouse space of 5,000 square feet. The floor slabs to the units were power floated and sealed with epoxy resin coloured coating, with perimeter and dividing walls having a fair faced block inner skin which has been decorated.

The end result has created a clean and high quality finish to the warehouse space with access via large automatic roller shutter doors. The high specification office areas in unit 8 comprise of meeting rooms, chill-out space; open plan offices; reception; IT server room; kitchen and welfare facilities. These areas benefit from underfloor heating and air conditioning, as well as a glazed curved partitioning system and integral blinds. Aluminium windows and roof lights to the inner meeting rooms and offices provide an abundance of natural light. The mezzanine floor is served by two stairs and an eight person hydraulic lift. Externally, car parking spaces for 26 plus cars has been created, along with cycle stands. The Kingspan cladding superstructure sits on a blue Staffordshire brick plinth.

“I am delighted to have with Greendale on this important project for Stewarts. Greendale have been great to work with; the site is tidy, the quality is fantastic, and their open and honest communication is a joy to experience. The finished warehousing, head-office, and training facility will be a vital ingredient in the on-going development for our company into the future.” – Martin Stewart, MD of Stewarts Garden Centre
