Project Description:
Greendale Construction were instructed by BCP to refurbish the main doors of Poole Town Cellars, a Grade I listed building. This pair of heavy oak timbered doors had dropped on the hinges, appeared to have swollen, become misaligned and showed evidence of rot by the ring pulls.
Greendale arranged for the transportation of the doors to Haroys Joinery. Whilst in the workshop, the doors saw a full overhaul, including replacing the rotted timbers, reducing the overall width and height, and applying two coats of fresh stain to the wood.
Situated in a busy public area, the Greendale team made sure to provide ample site protection; not just to secure the building once removed, but also to ensure the general health and safety of the public whilst the works took place.
We’ve included some photos of the doors going through the Haroys workshop – as you can see a lot of care and attention was given to these extremely old doors!
