Project Description:

In August 2019 we handed over the keys to the Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group, which saw Carlisle House Surgery, Lagland Road, Poole, relocated to a modern, fit-for-purpose location in the Lifeboat Quay building off Holes Bay Road, Poole.

Lifeboat Quay Medical Centre will now offer its patients eight consulting rooms and three treatment spaces, as well as an interview room, staff welfare facilities, and an office base to allow an independent district nurse to operate from the surgery. Initially serving 6000 patients, the medical centre has been strategically designed and ‘future proofed’ to cater for the area’s growing population and will eventually have the capacity for up to 13,000 patients, offering 84 parking spaces, with allocated spaces for disabled patients. The new location is also just 100 metres from a bus stop for patients using public transport.

Beginning as a new-build empty unit, the team worked with a range of operatives to carry out this complex fit out with bespoke client requirements, including state of the art keyless locking systems and high specification treatment rooms. Air conditioning was installed throughout the entire centre. A new office and waiting room formed as part of the fit out with bespoke reception desk and area. Fitted furniture forms part of each treatment room and oak was used for all doors and skirting.

“This has been a great project to work on and we are all delighted with the new home for the patients and staff of Carlisle House Surgery which will offer people real benefits from day one once it is opened in early September.”  – Diane McLaughlin from NHS Dorset CCG
