Project Description:
The Henry Beaufort School, Priors Dean Road, Winchester, Hampshire, benefitted from the refurbishment and recladding of a 2-storey Science block and re-roofing of an adjacent admin and teaching block. The work was completed as part of the Hampshire County Council SCOLA Framework.
The work to the Science Block included removal of the existing fully glazed fenestration and addition of high performance insulation, and an outer covering of brick slips and panels. The existing single glazed Crittall windows were replaced with double glazed aluminium units. The flat roof was replaced with thermal insulation and PV panels were added.
Internally, rooms and science laboratories were upgraded with new services and specialist science furniture and benching. LED lighting was installed throughout, and Hybrid Ventilation and Heat Recovery units to all classrooms. A bridge was also added to allow an additional fire exit to the first floor.
The large adjacent block was re-roofed whilst live, including removing of the old roofing and insulation, and replacing with new high performance felt an insulation.
