Project Description:
Greendale was commissioned by Bournemouth War Memorial Homes, a registered charity overseen by a Board of Trustees, providing a variety of high quality one, two and three bedroom homes to ex-Service Veterans in need.
The works carried out by Greendale included.
- Removal and disposal of the existing UPVC/glass conservatory structure.
- Construction of a two storey community space with a first floor office, kitchen and WC over the location of the existing conservatory.
- Remodelling works at the abutment to the existing facility.
- New electrical and mechanical services.
- Decorations and finishes.
- External landscaping including new turf, pathway and fencing.
Neil Drissell, Contracts Manager for Greendale commented: “The project was handed over to such a high spec that it was noted by the architect, client and the contracts administrator that the works were completed to a very high standard with minimal snags.
“Challenging at times with limited access for materials, and taking note to be especially considerate to the elderly residents in the surrounding flats, ultimately, the build was redesigned following the discovery of a main gas pipe. However, the Greendale team remained strong and focused, and handed over a 1st class product which will be enjoyed by the veterans and staff for many years to come.”
Tracy Poole, Estate Manager, Bournemouth War Memorial Homes, commented: “The whole team were extremely considerate and understanding of the needs of our tenants throughout the build. A special thanks to Pete Marks who ran the build to a very high standard. We are delighted with the finished product, the proof being that tenants are now enjoying regular coffee mornings in the new area and staff have a professional work environment.”
