Once again Greendale Construction is delighted to have presented two local charities; Michael House and The Listening Ear with donations of £500 each, in lieu of sending out Christmas Cards. The worthy local charities, voted for by our generous and caring employees, were runners up to Hope 4 Harri which won the most votes and has been nominated as our charity of the year.

Micheal House has been supporting the homeless since 1992. It’s mission has always been to help anyone who is vulnerable. They are a pet-friendly, dry house (drug and alcohol-free environment) offering supported accommodation to all genders. Michael House is an independent non-denominational charity that provides for the needs of the homeless in South West Dorset. The charity pioneered the first ever Night Shelter and Day Centre for the homeless in Dorset which operated for a decade. Michael House opened in the year 2000, and recently recorded its 700th resident. In 2008, the charity purchased an 8 bedroom property for move-on accommodation. Three of Micheal House’s Directors have received civil/papal awards for services to the community in recent years.

The Listening Ear is a children’s mental health charity dedicated to providing the best possible counselling and mental health support to children and young people aged between 5-19 in schools across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. Established in 2003, The Listening ear has been working within schools and youth centres in partnership with BCP council since 2012. The service has been acknowledged by both the BCP council and local schools to be an effective support for mental health and well-being.
