Greendale was delighted to be part of the regeneration and modernisation of the former ‘Wilton Shopping Village’ now renamed, ‘The Guild,’ in Wilton, Salisbury. The Guild partnered with TV’s self-styled, ‘Queen of Shops,’ Mary Portas, who helped establish a new identity, logo, and assisted with fundamental changes required in order to inspire visitors to make meaningful connections with its brands, and create a memorable, sustainable and worthy experience in the vibrant town on Wilton. The new name, The Guild, was created to celebrate Wilton’s rich heritage of skills and craftsmanship to bring together a vibrant community of makers and doers in a place where people can enjoy shopping, eating and spending time together.
For its part, Greendale undertook the role of turning the former Unit 5 into a modern new riverside open-air, weather-protected entertainment space. Scaffolding and protection was erected to protect the bridge over the river. The area was prepared by pressure jet/stripping away paint from existing steel posts and stanchions, before being prepared and decorated with grey primer.
An area of approximately 30 metres in length of masonry wall was also demolished down to slab level, before the remaining brickwork made good.
Balustrading was erected, along with screens and black debris netting to the end of the gable wall. Finally, artificial turf was laid to external areas covering 400m2.
The Guild’s outdoor entertainment space has been a huge feature and has enabled outdoor cinema events, Oktoberfest, and was ready for the launch of ‘Make Well’, a high-end craft and artisan makers festival in partnership with Hole & Corner. In our rural and historic setting of regenerated carpet factory buildings, you’ll discover a distinctive mix of independent and national brands ranging from homeware, interiors, lifestyle, gifting and wellbeing. The Guild is also home to Herbs & Wild, a superb eatery using locally sourced produce to provide a fresh and ever-changing seasonal menu all set in our beautiful and spacious stretched tent.
As a result of the excellent work from out Greendale team, we were then asked to repaint the bridge which crosses the River Wylye from The Guild.
