Project Description:
Exeter Road was a renovation project to improve and modernise an existing office in the centre of Bournemouth. The existing office space had become dated and required significant modernising to not only facilitate technological requirements, but to improve the efficiency of the building and reduce overhead costs. Greendale Construction were appointed on the removal, structural repair and reconstruction of the existing ground floor and basement. Externally, a new shop front was installed including a new entrance and signage. To the left of the shop front a new driveway was installed and the externals were redecorated.
The design objective for the scheme was to ‘future proof’ the interior of the office space, providing access for technology installations. The design should also incorporate the desire to reduce running costs by increasing ventilation and insulation to the interior. Although this was not a listed building the property had to be sympathetic with the existing stonework and street scene to preserve the general character of the area. All stone was locally sourced and created an impressive impact to the external façade.
