Project Description:
Greendale Construction were appointed on the conversion and vertical extension of an existing 1970’s office block into 79 high end student accommodation studios and associated common areas in the basement. The existing three storey building, and basement, were completed in two phases.
Phase 1 comprised the design and conversion of the existing office block over the basement to the second floor to create 45 studio apartments. These works also included repairs to the existing façade.
Phase 2 comprised of the design and vertical extension of two further floors to provide an additional 34 studio apartments. Externally the building benefited from both soft and hard landscaping with the reconfiguration of the car park together with associated main incoming services including a new SSE transformer and housing. The existing lift shaft and staircases were extended up and down giving access to the new top floors and the basement.
