We are delighted to have been shortlisted for a BSG Award; ‘Project of the Year’ for our work at Bernard Street, Southampton; turning a dilapidated old office block into modern student accommodation, where Greendale’s Stuart Harrison has worked as project manager. In order to be shortlisted for the award, Greendale has demonstrated outstanding ‘Health and Safety in Planning and Design.’
The £4.2 million pound design and build contract has been to convert a 1970s office block at 24 Bernard Street, Southampton, into 79 student studio units.
The existing three storey block and basement will be completed in two phases; a fit out, due for completion in August 2016, and a vertical extension with two new floors created, due for completion September 2016.
The basement of the building will be developed to form the common areas; reading rooms; cinema room; laundry, with all other floors designed for student accommodation.
Greendale has also been nominated for BSG ‘Member of the Year’ – a category where applicants can to provide strong evidence of ‘Best Practice’ in Health, Safety and Environmental Welfare.
Contracts Director, Andy Musselwhite, and Bernard Street Project Manager, Stuart Harrison, will be attending the BSG Health and Safety Awards ceremony on Wednesday October 19th at the Williams Formula One Conference Centre in Grove, Oxfordshire.
The ceremony once again promises to be a national celebration of our members’ dedicated commitment to Health and Safety in the workplace.
Keep your fingers crossed for us!
